About Course

This learning programme is intended for all persons who need to be equipped with the knowledge required to apply the Disciplinary Code of Conduct as part of their duties.

This programme is run over 2 days on 16 – 17 May 2024 and is virtually facilitated.

Important to note: These dates may change should there not be a minimum of 5 students registered for this specific date.

What will I learn?

The learner successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamentals of the basic terminology of discipline
  • Differentiate between corrective and punitive measures taken
  • Understand and be aware of the prohibited reasons for taking disciplinary action
  • Know and apply the purpose of fair disciplinary action and the requirement to ensure procedural fairness
  • Understand what difficulties may be encountered when taking disciplinary action
  • Understand the purpose of the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995
  • Be aware of the exclusions from application of the Act and be able to interpret the Act
  • Provide an overview of the Basic Conditions of Employment
  • Explain the regulation of working hours for employees
  • Explain the accumulation of the different types of leave allocated to employees
  • Explain the particulars of employment and remuneration
  • Explain the procedures for the termination of employment contracts
  • Apply discipline in the workplace in a fair and lawful manner
